As I've mentioned before, I LOVE coffee. Here is another coffee cozy that I whipped up a few days ago using some scrap yarn that I had. I thought it was a perfect oppurtunity to practice cabling without a cable needle. I've included detailed instructions on how to make this cute little cozy with or without a cable needle.
Yarn: Scrap
worsted weight yarn (at least 30 yards, more depending on wanted length). I used
Berraco Lustra left over from another project.
Needles: 4 US Size 7 DPNs or needles required for gauge
Gauge: 6 stitches to 1 inch, unstretched
Fit: Any
normal coffee to‐go cup
Directions:
Cast on 40 stitches.
Join in the round, careful not to twist.
Round 1: Knit 2, Purl 2 until end of roundRound 2: Knit 2, Purl 2 until end of round
Round 3:
Without Cable Needle - Pass the first knit stitch to the right needle. Knit the second knit stitch. Drop both stitches off the needles, picking up the left stitch (already knit) on the right needle. Pick up the right stitch on the left needle, going in front of the already knit stitch. Now knit this stitch. Purl 2, repeat until to to the end.
With Cable Needle - Place first knit stich on cable needle, hold to the front. Knit second knit stitch. Knit stitch off of the cable needle. Purl 2. Repeat until end of round
Repeat Round 1‐3 until cozy is 3 inches in length, ending after Round 2.
Bind off loosely. If
bind off is too tight, the cozy will not fit on the cup. Weave in ends and
enjoy!
very cute! love the teeny cables!
